When monitor system using the db2pd command and running -latches option you may notice that there is a latch being held consistantly. This is held by the EDU db2spmlw.

This is normal behaviour. The latch count says 4 which means all the 4 SPM log files are kept open:
SPMLOG.LCF, SPM00000.LOG, SPM00001.LOG, SPM00002.LOG
