Virtual HMC (vHMC)
The V8 R840 and higher versions of the HMC can beinstalled into virtual machine that is running on an x86 Hypervisor.
The vHMC provides images in 2 additional formats to allows for quick deployment of the vHMC on either ESXi or KVM hypervisors
A feature of the vHMC is the activation engine which allows you to preconfigure the HMC Console by passing configuration information to the HMC at the first boot of the HMC, when using these images.
Minimum requirements of vHMC:8GB of memory4 processors1 network interface, with a maximum of 4 allowed.160GB of disk space, recommend 700GB to get adequate PCM data
The supported hypervisors are VMWARE ESXi 5.5 or higher or KVM on Red hat RHEL 6.5 or higher
The processor on the systems hosting vHMC must have either Intel VT-x or AMD-V Hardware Virtualization enabled.
