Central electronics complex The 595 CEC is a 20U tall, 24-inch rack-mounted device. It houses the system processors, memory, redundant system service processors, I/O drawer connection capability, and associated components. It is installed immediately below the power subsystem. The 595 can be populated with up to eight POWER6 8-core processor books. Each processor book contains four MCMs. Each MCM contains memory chips with 32 MBs of L3 cache and one dual-core POWER6 processor chip with two 4 MB, integrated L2 caches and integrated memory controllers. Each dual-core processor is supported by 4 MB of private Level 2 cache and 32 MB of shared Level 3 cache. Processor books are available in 4.2 GHz and 5.0 GHz.
