A TSM client installation on Redhat Enterprise Linux may fail with dependency errors.

Example install output:

rpm -i TIVsm-API.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libstdc++.so.5 is needed by TIVsm-API-5.4.1-0.i386
libstdc++.so.5(CXXABI_1.2) is needed by TIVsm-API-5.4.1-0.i386

Missing Red Hat rpm packages

Resolving the problem

For Red Hat-based distributions, the following RPMs must be installed to satisfy libstdc++.so.5 and libXp.so.6 dependencies:
32-bit RHEL 5, Fedora Core 6, Fedora 7, Asianux Server 3: libXp-1.0.0-8, compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3
64-bit RHEL 5, Fedora Core 6, Fedora 7, Asianux Server 3: 32-bit and 64-bit libXp-1.0.0-8, compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3
32-bit RHEL 4, Asianux Server 2: xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1,compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3
64-bit RHEL 4, Asianux Server 2: 32-bit and 64-bit xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1, compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3
Once these dependencies are resolved, reinstall the TSM client package.
NOTE: Fedora is not an officially supported platform.
While you may be able to find the above packages by using a search engine (google, yahoo, etc.), the recommended method would be to download the packages from RedHat (www.redhat.com). If the problem persists on a supported platform, please contact TSM Support for further analysis.
