MODELS AFFECTED: MMA, EMA
DESCRIPTION: After Memory MES or DIMM replacement, the system
will not boot or DIMMs will be deconfigured.
Many of these events are related to inductors being knocked
off of DIMMs with the following part numbers:
45D3365, 45D1672, 45D1190, 45D1193, 45D1196, 45D3367,
45D1199, 45D1202, 45D1205, 45D1208, 45D1210, 45D1213
45D1787, 45D3369
The following SRCs may or may not call out the damaged DIMM(s)
These SRCs may be seen include, but are not limited to:
B181B31B (system will not boot)
B124B889, B124B31B, B124C652, B124C65D, B124C030
B150B145, B150B481, B150B716, B150B965
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
Look to see which memory is deconfigured.
It may not be the DIMM(s) that you were working with,
but the neighboring DIMM(s) that have been damaged.
Examine DIMMs for missing inductor.
Visual aid for identifying a damaged part:
FIX: Replace all damaged DIMM(s)
NOTE: There will be a design modification forthcoming
on these DIMMs to minimize damage on future parts
